Funding for Research, Development, and Innovation

Grants may be awarded for:

• a) Research and development projects,
• b) Feasibility studies,
• c) Application for intellectual property rights,
• d) Innovation consulting services and innovation support services,
• e) Process innovations,
• f) Investments resulting from process innovations

Eligible expenses vary depending on the type of project:

• Instruments and equipment (a) (e)
• Personnel expenses (a) (b) (e)
• Expenses for contract research and technical expertise from third parties (a)
• Other material expenses (a) (e)
• Legal fees, patent fees (official fees) (c)
• Expenses for external experts (d)
• Costs for the use of laboratories, machinery, and equipment (d)
• Investments in machinery and equipment, robotics, and automation technology (f)

The grant is provided as partial funding.

Minimum threshold: Minimum grant of €15,000

Research & Development (individual or collaborative):

▪️ Up to 50% (industrial research)

▪️ Up to 25% (experimental development)

▪️ Can be increased to a maximum of 80% through SME bonuses and collaboration with research institutions

Feasibility studies:

▪️ Small businesses: up to 60%

▪️ Medium-sized enterprises: up to 50%

▪️ Max. grant: €100,000

Process innovations:

▪️ SMEs: up to 50%, large enterprises: 15%

▪️ Max. grant: €200,000

▪️ Investments of €25,000 or more are eligible

Registration of intellectual property rights (patents):

▪️ Grant: up to 50%

▪️ Max. funding: €50,000

Innovation and support services:

▪️ Grant: up to 50%

▪️ Max. funding: €200,000 (within 3 years)

Process innovations (investments):

▪️ Grant: up to 50%

▪️ Max. funding: €100,000

▪️ As de minimis aid
